flu
Waterfall asked:

What is the difference between having a flu and having pneumonia?

Oh also… If you dunk your head in cold water and went outside during a chilly day, you could catch a cold, maybe the flu, maybe even pneumonia?

Could someone please clerify the difference in how each are caught?

Diane B asked:

I currently reside in Australia and I had my flu shot in March (Autumn) of this year. I plan to travel to the US in November (Autumn in the US). Is my flu shot still good for this travel, or has the vaccine changed
because of the difference in the time of year, or a difference in the type of flu expected.

Creole38 asked:

I can never really tell the difference between the flu and a cold.
The other day I began to have a deep cough which started to make my throat hurt and now today I’m achy and sneezing and feel bad with chest congestion. But I do not have a fever and I am not nauceous as other people tell me happens to them when they get the flu. I feel bad and tired but not weak, or anything. I really want to know the difference or if I have the flu, just a mild form of it?

fever
Greg H asked:

I’ve had the flu for the past 3 days with my fever ranging from 100.5 to 102.5. I think I may have bronchitis. I’m just wondering if the bronchitis would cause the fever or if there may be some secondary infection. Just wondering if I should see a doctor or if I’m just being an alarmist.

Full Moon asked:

I heard they were caused by different viruses. Also, what causes achiness in stomach flu? Is it just the virus or is it from dehydration? And lastly, does the flu shot only prevent and help with flu or does it also help to prevent the stomach flu as well? Thanks.

MorenaLinda asked:

How long does a flu shot last?? We are getting them for free at work.

What are the changes of actually getting infected with the flu from the shot (even tho the shot is made up of its weakened and dead viruses)??

If you do not get infected with the flu from the shot, do you at least feel some mild symptoms? (i had mild sympotoms from a yellow frever shot)??

I didnt get a shot last year beucase i’ve always heard that some people get infected (i think you only get infected if you are already sick or something.. thats why they wont let you take it)?

I have both of my children home yesterday and today with the flu…fever, headache, vomiting, diarrhea. I know you have to keep them hydrated with plenty of fluids which I have been doing. (popsicles, plenty of water, jello) They are now starting to tell me they are hungry…what is the best solid food to give a child who is trying to recover from the flu?

I got a flu vaccine with Thimerosal today (5 days into my cycle) and I am planning to get pregnant. How long should I get before trying to conceive to avoid passing any mercury to my child? How long does it take for my body to get rid of the thimerosal? I really appreciate your help.
