fevers
I am 38 and have been battling a bad chest cold for 4 days. Each night I am spiking a fever of up to 101.8. I’m now pretty sure I don’t have a cold but an upper respiratory infection. My question is this: Is it ok to take a hot bath when you have this degree of fever? I have the chills really bad and I want a hot bath like right now. Really hot. Can I do that or not?

I wouldnt take a hot bath if your battling a fever that high. I would take tylenol or something for the fever and if it goes down, maybe then. I would also, if i were you, consult a doctor for him to perscribe you some medicine for your aliments. Good Luck.

no hot bath take a lukewarm bath, drink plenty of fluids tylenol or ibuprofen and if this fever doesnt go away after 3 days id visit the doctor or go to the ER. My husband gets bad fevers and chills. use a couple of blankets

Well you can but it will just put your body temp. up even more. While in the bath, put a very very cold wash cloth on your forehead or neck just to keep cool. Or take 2 ibuprofens before the hot bath.

yes it is OK to take a bath-not very hot but yes it is OK. You need to go to the Doctor or the ER a respiratory infection can be deadly. Especially with a high fever. You need to go on antibiotics.

most likely, you have a viral illness. drink lots of fluids, get plenty of rest, and take advil/tylenol for pain. most viruses last 3-21 days, but the temp is nothing. worry if it’s over 102.9.
