How long should a Fever last with the flu?

My 13 year old son went in on Sunday and had a 102 fever. It hasn’t come down much since then no matter how many fluids he drinks and much Motrin he takes.

Sometimes, using medicine to bring down fever is a bad idea. If your son has an infection and his body is fighting it, he will have a fever. If you give him fever-reducers, the body will stop fighting the infection for a while but then it will return to fighting the infection and so he will have a fever again.

Talk to your doctor to see what you should do.
