fever
My 7 month old started a fever today of 99.9. As soon as I noticed, I have gave her tylenol to keep it under control. She started feeling a lil warm again before her next dose. How high of a fever is when you start worrying or take to the doctor??

I read that over 103 is when you need to call the doctor. My son was running a 100 fever and I gave him Tylenol. The next day I called the doctor, he did have an ear infection. So, if the fever comes back, know that the baby could have an infection.

my son always get high fevers too. and even when i give him tylenol it still comes back too soon. i would put him in a cool bath (not Cold) and that should cool him down. you need to take him to the hospital if he gets above 103. i also find that motrin works a lot better than tylenol. ask his doctor for the dose. also my 1 yr. old has fever when he has ear infections so you might want to check that out too.

I have taken my 3 year old twins to the emergency room SO many times with fevers. They say that you shouldn’t freak out until around 104, but to me that’s WAAYYY too late. Keep in mind that anywhere you take the temp it will come up 1 degree lower than it actually is, unless you do it rectally. For example, if you took it in her ear or under her arm, she would really be at 100.9. I would try to alternate the Tylenol with Motrin (you can overlap doses) because that’s what the hospital has always recommended for us. It brings the fever down much faster. If that doesn’t work, I would absolutely get in to the doctor. It could be teething, but it could also be an infection. Why risk it? They’re certainly not going to think any less of you for being cautious! Good luck!

Don’t panic. I’ve never been too keen on giving infants products like tylenol etc. Did you read the warnings on the label? Try giving her a cool bath and check her temp hourly until it stays down. I’d go to the hosp if it reaches 101

If she’s 7 months old you don’t need to start worrying until it gets 103-104. 99 is a low grade temp. and nothing really serious.

It’s hard for a parent not to worry when their children become ill with a fever. Most pediatricians say that unless the fever reaches 104 just to give them medication to control it. However, only you can decide. If you feel that you should take them to the doctor, then do it. It is much better to be safe than sorry. A mother’s love for her child will prompt her to do anything necessary to protect them from anything that will potentially harm them. Sometimes we just need a second opinion from someone trained to take care of us.

I don’t wanna sound like a paranoid mum, but if you are concerned, I would take her to the doctors…..My son who is 15 months old had a seizure on New Years day from a high temp, and I didn’t even think he was overly sick. But there is usually something causing the high temps and in my son’s cause he had infections in both his lungs, which ended up needing antibiotics to clear it up…… It is a very scary thing to see your child have a seizure and I know from now on, if I am at all concerned I’m going straight to the doctors……

Do’n't mean to scare you and I’m not saying this will happen to your daughter, but they usually is an underlying cause and as far as I’m concerned it is better to be safe than sorry.

Over 101 and I’d call the pediatrician, but I’d give her some tylenol now
