Fever blisters is actually a form of herpes. Stress can cause them to appear. Try using Abreva. It will help dry it up.

If you can make yourself aware of the very first second you feel it coming on medicate it with medicine at a local Pharmacy, I can’t give you the name to one because one might work for me but not you…I get them too, hate them….what causes mine in being in the sun/wind….pay attention if this happens to you too. I now put a protective lip cover on if I am working outdoors in the sun and wind. Damn they hurt and are so ugly, hate going out in public. signed Julie

Regrettably, you can’t 100% prevent fever blisters. I feel your pain I suffer with those bi**hes all the time. It’s hereditary believe it or not. I’ve notice for myself that when I leave my lips dry or chapped for a very long time, especially if I bite them, I tend to have a fever blister the next day. Maybe if you bring on the chapstick it’ll help. Oh, and when you do have them, still continue to moisturize your lips as well as put on an antibiotic like abreva or camphophenic.

i take 500 mg of lysine (supplement) two times a day when i feel one coming on and i continue taking it until it has gone away. if you get them often enough your doc may give you valtrex for your oral herpes.

as for prevention, watch your stress level, try not to let your lips dry out or be irritated by chewing them, biting them, rubbing them. etc.
