She doesn’t necessarily have a fever, you could just have cold hands, cats body temp is always a few degrees higher than humans so she will always feel “hot” to your touch. If she has other symptoms, it could be a sign that she is sick. The only way to tell is to use a rectal thermometer, but you probably don’t want to do this yourself, you could hurt her. Take her to the vet if she seems sick and they’ll do it for you.
A cats normal temperature is between 100 and 102.5, average is 101.5. Anything below or above warrants a trip to the vet. The only way to check is by using a rectal thermometer (digital with flexible tip is best). You may need another person to hold the cat still. Only put the thermometer up the rectum just past the tip. If unsure of doing this then take the cat to the vet. I did the same thing as you did by feeling my cats ears and both times my cats had a high fever and needed antibiotics. They are sisters and one was poisoned, the other was just sick, both were placed on antibiotic and got better. The poisoned one temp. was 105 and her sister was 104.3.
A cat’s normal temp. is around 102 degrees, as opposed to a human’s of 98.6, so your cat will always feel warm. She may feel warmer if she is resting in a warmer area, etc. If you really think she may have a fever, you should take her to a vet, as they can properly take her temperature rectally and find out why she has a fever - infection, virus, etc. The cause of the fever needs to be treated.
Please make sure NOT to give your cat any drugs at home such as Tylenol or ibuprofen, as these are toxic to cats.
Cats always have very hot eras. I don’t know why. They are the place where cats lose their heat (like us) and also where the circulation goes.
If you think she is sick, take her to the vet or she could dehydrate and die.
