But I’ve got an 18 month old daughter (it’s about time for her 2-year molars) drooling like mad, chewing on a pacifier, acting fussy and running a 102 fever.
Regardless of what the doctors say, have you experienced this with your babies?

yes, and I asked my Dr. and he said “there is no medical basis for fever while teething, but all of mine did” I laughed. He had 5 kids..
I know, my Dr always said one has nothing to do with the other. I think that’s crap. I have 3 kids & EVERY time they got a tooth a fever was present.
i have had 4 children and they all had fevers, red cheeks, drooling and chewed on anything they could reach….so your doctor obviously is speaking from their own experience. I gave my babies bonjela to soothe the pain and it helped immensely.
yes they do!
My daughter got all 4 molars at one time and had a temp about 102. Give her some tylenol and that should bring it down some.
If it lasts more than a couple days then take her in to the Dr.
Some Dr’s say no and some say they do. Mine says no, but my friends pediatrician told her they do. Especially when they are getting more than one at a time.
One of mine did- very high fevers, she also got horribly diarrhea every time.
My doctor says the same thing about diarrhea - that it isn’t a symptom of teething, but for my daughter it sure is. Every time she’s about to cut a tooth she has very loose bowels. I think it’s because of the excess saliva that she swallows. My doctor said that the reason they don’t consider these things true symptoms of teething is because they can be symptoms of other, more serious conditions, and they don’t want parents to disregard the symptoms and attribute them just to teething and not investigate further into other illnesses.
yes my son always has fevers when he is teething i usually give him a frozen waffle because when he chews on it it helps a lot with his teeth and then whenever it mushes up he can eat it
Teething toddlers have different symptoms. They get uncomfortable and fussy. That’s the way it goes. Plenty of pediatricians say they have seen low fevers before while teething, but a 102 fever needs to be checked out immediately, it’s unusual, and the doctor can check to see if your child has an infection that doesn’t have anything to do with teething. In the meantime, try placing cool, damp rags on your daughters face. It will make her feel a little bit better. But, you really should see her pediatrician before it gets worse.
No Tracy my kids never did. I’ve heard that too. That teething doesn’t cause a fever. I have a tendency to think their right though. Although I’m no doctor. It just doesn’t make sense to me that teething would cause a fever. I hope the baby gets better real soon.
I am single. But I can answer this question. Yes, many childern have fever at the time of teething. Don’t worry, it’s a normal thing.
Yes, both of my daughters had fevers with their teething. According to our Dr. at the time it was normal, and certainly went away as such. I wouldn’t worry about it, unless she starts to get other symptoms of course…
