NO! Don’t give human medication to animals.

Hi there….please NO baby aspirin for cats as this is toxic for them and can be lethal. Please see the following article about the dangers of aspirin to cats:

Most human medications for cats are considered very dangerous as they are unable to metabolize drugs like humans or dogs can.

Abscesses needed to be treated with antibiotics prescribed by your veterinarian to combat infection.

NO! Do not give cats any kind of human medications, they can not handle it. Take you cat to the vet.

i think less………

yes you can give aspirin but you have to do some calculations that has to do with the weight of your cat….

wish you the best

aliasnotavailable_always on 12 December, 2008 at 9:48 pm #

NO, cats cannot have aspirin it will kill them…why is the cat fighting? pour peroxide on the wounds and if it gets worse call the vet….You could give him a cool bath…most cats temps are supposed to be around 101 degrees…Good Luck

faerieshy on 14 December, 2008 at 2:58 pm #

NO! They don’t even recommend that you give BABIES baby aspirin anymore. A fever has a function and it is a symtom and not the problem. Fevers help the body to burn off infection. You need to find out what is causing the fever, that is what needs the attention. Catfood from China maybe? I’m not being fecious, it happened to my mom’s cat. -Good Luck!

aspirin will kill your cat

old cat lady on 18 December, 2008 at 5:27 pm #

Vets sometimes recommend a small amount of baby aspirin (like a 1/4 pill every three days) for older cats suffering from arthritis. As you can imagine that’s not going to have ANY effect on an infection and vets do it as a trade-off from the possibility of damaging a cat’s liver and a slight benefit for joint pain.

If your cat is not neutered he will always be getting in fights and even if neutered there can be territorial issues with cats who are outside. Do you actually take the cat’s temperature to determine a fever? I sort of doubt that.

At any rate the problem is one to be addressed by a veterinarian and not something you should be treating without professional advice.

benjamin v on 20 December, 2008 at 10:38 pm #

Please go to the vet, aspirins may hurt your cat

Jess on 21 December, 2008 at 3:02 am #

Cats do not metabolize Aspirin well, in severe cases Vet’s will recommend giving them 1 Aspirin every 3 days, even this dose can cause problems.

You need to keep your cat inside, luckily these absecces he gets seem to take care of themselves. Although, there are many things that cats can get from bites from other cats and wild animals that are not treatable (Feline Aids, Feline Leukemia, Rabies etc)

Please make sure your cat has a current Rabies vaccine, not just for his protection, but also for yours.

macleod709 on 23 December, 2008 at 4:25 pm #

no, you can’t, get your cat to the vets and then keep your cat inside so it will stop getting beat up by other animals.
