fevers
My best friend who has diabetes, has a fever just about all the time. I ask her why and she says its because of diabetes. She usually has bad glucose control and its almost always over 200 or even 300 usually. Why does she have a fever a lot?

Your friend in hyperglycemia and her blood sugar level should be around 100. If sugar levels are consistently high, your friend is damaging her organs, blood is not circulating to the fingers and toes properly (extrimidies get cold and or numb); her head may feel hot (though she may not have a fever) and she will often be tired. This person needs to get on their medicines. Otherwise they’re just being suicidal.

Diabetes will not cause fevers per se, unless they are associated with some sort of infection.
Often times, diabetics will develop ulcers and fevers are definitely a part of those.

high suger level for prolonged times leads to decrease in immunity and then person can easily catch infections…. due to infections it is possible to getting fever.high sugar have also leads to diabetic ketoacidosis.. due to ketoacidosis there are possibility of rising of body temperature and it showing other symptoms of fever …. so pls. tell ur friend to control her blood suger otherwise she will get bigger problems in future…..

When my sugars are high, I do feel warm and uncomfortable, as if I had a fever (but don’t).

Summer heat just makes me that much more miserable. Once I was diagnosed and got my sugars under control, heat doesn’t really bother me and I feel cooler, less gummy, not so sticky, and sweat doesn’t burn my eyes anymore.

i found out i was type 2 a year ago. i complained to the doctor of feeling like i had fevers, but when i actually took the time to check my temps, i never really did. when i tested my blood sugar when i felt like that, it was usually always over 200. so when my blood sugar is high, i feel kinda sick like with a fever and sometimes headaches. once your friend gets her blood sugars under control, she will feel better. i know this is a hard thing to control. your eating and exercise plays a huge part in how you will feel for a day. i will eat more carbs when im active. less carbs when im sitting around the house. if you eat a big thing of ice cream and sit around, a diabetic may feel sick.. and thats cause of the high blood sugar. its hard to explain to non diabetics how we feel. our bodies are so different when it comes to food. i still have problems explaining to my boyfriend that when im feeling shaky and disoriented that i must eat. you experience a whole different feeling of hunger then others. i hope your friend will try a little harder to control herself. i know its hard. but her health depends on it.

diabetes does not cause fevers, but it can increase risk of infection which causes fevers. if her sugars are constantly high it is very bad. she needs to talk to her diabetic doctor to help to get back into control.
or else she needs a reality check, and i hope for her sake it doesn’t come in the form of DKA like mine did!

As the others have said – diabetes does not cause a fever.
Your friend’s diabetes is out of control. Her blood glucose should not be above 200 often. Being high all the time makes a person feel lousy. She is not taking her insulin or other medications properly. Is she aware of ketoacidosis? This is a complication of diabetes and she may have this condition if she’s high all the time. Do you think you can gently ask her about her condition and why her blood sugar is so high? Maybe you can help her get back on track. Once her blood sugar is in good control she will feel much much better!

Medical science hasn't got a cure or treatment for dengue fever.
