fevers
Why does everyone always say “ICE DOWN THAT INJURY YOU DONT WANT SWELLING” or “TAKE TYLENOL, YOU HAVE A 100 DEGREE FEVER” Arent these the body’s way of healing itself? I understand extreme swelling could be bad, and an extreme fever could kill you. Or swelling after surgery is bad, i get that. But if you jam a finger. Or a 100 degree temperature. Arent you just prolonging the body from getting healthy. The fever kills off the bad stuff by raising the body temp, and dosent the swelling help aswell. Its our bodies natural defense, why are we trying to mess with it?

I am 38 and have been battling a bad chest cold for 4 days. Each night I am spiking a fever of up to 101.8. I’m now pretty sure I don’t have a cold but an upper respiratory infection. My question is this: Is it ok to take a hot bath when you have this degree of fever? I have the chills really bad and I want a hot bath like right now. Really hot. Can I do that or not?

I know this is a stupid question, but I’m trying to prove something to my friend, and I need some good points.

I know the doctors swear that teething doesn’t cause fevers.

But I’ve got an 18 month old daughter (it’s about time for her 2-year molars) drooling like mad, chewing on a pacifier, acting fussy and running a 102 fever.

Regardless of what the doctors say, have you experienced this with your babies?

I’ve taken our cat to the vet a couple times and they mentioned that it could be an autoimmune disease, but it could be something else too (like a foriegn body). Has anybody else experienced this with their cats before?

I’ve had a low fever (enough to make me feel terrible and have muscle aches) once a month for the past three months. No other symptoms and it disappears within the day or when I wake up the next morning. I was wondering if anyone knows what could cause that.

Every 1 to 2 months my daughter gets a fever. She has no other symptoms. It last a couple of days and then goes away. I have taken her to the doc and he just tells me to let it run its course. What could be causing this?
